first_imgIt looks like The Rolling Stones‘ follow-up to their 2016 blues covers album, Blue & Lonesome, sooner rather than later. In the most recent installment of Keith Richards‘ fan Q&A web series, “Ask Keith Richards,” the legendary Stones guitarist let slip that the band will be heading back to the studio “very shortly,” and will “cutting some new stuff and considering where to take it next.” This spells good news for fans of the band, as it seems to suggest that they are working on their first set of new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.The Rolling Stones Tap Into Their Blues Roots With Eric Clapton On “Blue & Lonesome” [Album Review]In addition, Richards alluded to the surprisingly enjoyable experience of making Blue & Lonesome, explaining that it “caught [us] a little by surprise,” and significantly raised the odds for a second blues installation. “I don’t think we’re going to sucker into that straight away,” the guitarist stated. “But then it wouldn’t take a twist of the arm to do some more of that. It’s such fun to record, and there’s plenty more where that came from.
